Our Route. Image by Sofia AntonovaTomorrow I'm starting to Moscow, where I'll spend the weekend. Monday afternoon I'm flying to Yakutsk where I'll meet all other participants. The perspective to fly alone 7 hours from Moscow to Yakutsk is not the best one, but I really wanted to use the possibility to see my family and friends in Moscow.

 

During last weeks of preparations, one not so pleasant thing happened. Our freight couldn't be delivered to Samoylov, due to some technical problems.

 

Actually, the airport in Tiksi is temporary closed. To reach Tiksi at the moment, one needs to make interchange in the nearest town Ust-Kuyga. And from Ust-Kuyga one can fly only with helicopter, which is very limited in terms of weight, as you can imagine.

 

All in all, every person is allowed to take only 20kg of luggage. Nevertheless it couldn't change our strong willingness to go to expedition! We tried hard to fit everything to these 20kg, including instruments, polar clothes and private things. But we are ready now and looking forward to see Arctic.
