Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam has two available positions for Arctic carbon cycle research.
The Global Biogeochemical Cycles group of the Department of Earth Sciences at VU University Amsterdam has a PhD position available in studying methane emissions from lakes in the Arctic (e.g. Siberia) as they are affected by climate change. Emission of methane from lakes is an important component of the methane budget of the Arctic and is intimately related to the number and dynamics of small and larger lakes.
The PhD position is for a duration of four years. More information on this position
can be found in here or by contacting prof. Han Dolman,

The Terrestrial Carbon Dynamics group of the Department of Earth Sciences and Ecology at VU University Amsterdam has a postdoc position available in studying methane emissions from tundra ecosystems in the Arctic (e.g. Siberia) as affected by melting permafrost. These biomes interact substantially with the atmospheric carbon pool and hence climate through decomposition of old soil carbon, fires, and emission of methane.
The postdoc position is also for a duration of four years. More information on this position
can be found in here or by contacting prof. Han Dolman,
