Seida 2013: Goodbye green field cabin

Two months in the field are over and we will leave Seida this evening. We returned from the field the day before yesterday after a busy last day of packing.

Our equipment and basically everything we need for the field season had to be transported back to Seida village for winter storage.

So we had a fully loaded tundra vehicle that carried us back to Seida on Tuesday evening.

For the last days in the field we were a group of five people (Christina, Tanya, Richard, Igor and Carolina) and we will all travel back to Finland together, which makes it easier to carry our entire luggage, including many samples.

We count on Richard to attract all attention and distract the border guards, for after two months in Tundra he is looking like a terrorist and additionally smuggling a reindeer fur (and booze) to Finland.

So, the next three nights we will spend on the train, watching some movies, with a few hours' break in Moscow, where we are all planning to enjoy a hearty meal in a restaurant.

And as easy as it is to get used again to things like a shower, a razor, a huge variety of food choices etc., there is a sense of freedom gained here in the Russian Arctic that is hard to replace.

But no need to get too nostalgic, since we will be back next summer ;-)

Richard will return to Seida already in this autumn, in a few weeks' time, for a week of autumn campaign measurements.

Thank you all for reading our blog, we hope you enjoyed it!

До свидания!!! Увидимся в следующем году...
